I also tried installing QuickTime in a directory other my Windows directory, as I could with previous versions of QuickTime for Windows, but this option does not seem to be available in QuickTime for Windows 2.01.
What can I do to get QuickTime installed properly?
A We have heard that our SETUP.EXE program does not work well with Windows 95. At
the present time, we don't have a Windows 95-specific SETUP.EXE program. (A
future installer provided by Apple will work with Windows 95.) However, you can
complete the installation by installing the QTW files manually. The listing
below shows where each of the files should be installed.
